Quares signs the Green Deal for nature-inclusive car parks

Quares has signed the Green Deal for Nature-Inclusive Car Parks, together with 53 other participating public and private organisations. This initiative, led by Flemish Minister of Justice and Enforcement, Environment, Energy and Tourism Zuhal Demir, in collaboration with Natuurbuur and Natuurpro, aims to integrate more nature into as many existing and future car parks as possible across Flanders. Both small and large car parks, as well as public and private sites, are eligible to participate.

Through this Green Deal, the Flemish government seeks to provide concrete nature-inclusive solutions, enabling car park owners and managers to take immediate action. These solutions aim to address the decline and threat faced by certain insect groups, such as wild pollinators, which are crucial for plant pollination and fruit production.

Green Deals in Flanders

To ensure that future generations also have the right to live in a healthy and prosperous world, Flanders strives to decouple economic growth from its environmental impact and resource consumption.

To achieve this, Flanders aims to strengthen the competitiveness of its economy by fostering innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. Only in this way can the transition to a green economy be realised. Citizens, companies, NGOs, knowledge institutions and other organisations are already taking numerous initiatives to green the economy. Through the Green Deals, the Flemish government seeks to bundle and reinforce these initiatives and societal dynamics in order to tackle today’s environmental challenges.

The Green Deal instrument offers a low-threshold yet powerful framework to make agreements with public authorities and remove existing barriers. The outcomes of each Green Deal are always made public, allowing others to benefit from the insights gained and learn from them.
